Funeral services were held at the Klawitter chapel here at 3:45 o'clock Tuesday afternoon for David Jackson Lair, 89, who died at 1:00 a.m. Sunday morning in a Fairfield nursing home, where he had been for the past several months.

"Pete", as he was familiarly known here, came to Nelson about seven years ago from Oak and had made his home here since that time until he went to Fairfield.

Mr. Lair was born in Portsmouth, Ohio, on July 10, 1859. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Leta Hanks of Long Beach, California, and Mrs. Fern Schwatka of Richmond, California, and three sons, Ralph of Long Beach, Calif., Gordon of San Francisco, Calif., and Donald of Omaha, Nebr. The latter, with his wife, were the only children able to be present for Tuesday's services. The wife, Mrs. Florence McCoy Lair, preceded Mr. Lair in death on February 21, 1926.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. E.B. Stewart of the Methodist church, with service music provided by Mrs. W.L. Portwood and Mrs. Jas. F. Murphy, with Mrs. M.P. Simpson accompanying. The pallbearers were Harve Williams, Jesse Hamel, Rev. Stewart and A.G. Klawitter.

Interment was made in the Nelson cemetery (sic).
