Martin John Petersen, 517 Vine St., died Saturday in the Veterans' hospital, Des Moines, following a long illness. He was admitted to the hospital 4 months ago.
A life resident of Burlington, he was born July 19, 1889, the son of Herman and Sophia Madsen Petersen and was a former employee of the Polson Coal company. He was a member of the American Legion.
He is survived by his wife, one daughter and one son by a former marriage. Mrs. Thomas Murphy, Riverside, IL, and Monte Petersen, Burlington; 3 sisters, Mrs. Earl Dunham, Mrs. Mary Rollins and Mrs. Edward Parker, and one brother, Harry Petersen, all of Burlington and 4 grandchildren. His marriage to the former Florence Robbins, of Burlington, took place Feb. 15, 1922. Two children died in infancy.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Prugh's chapel. Burial will be in Aspen Grove cemetery.
