Franklin, for a number of years a pattern maker for Maytag company at Newton, worked at the IOP during World War II. He retired about 12 years ago.
Born Oct. 30, 1878 at Burlington, Franklin was the son of Robinson and Rhoda Franklin. He was married to Edna M. Hartman.
He was a member of the First Christian church at Newton.
Surviving are his wife, two sons, Laurence V., Burlington, and Ross J., Burlington route one; a brother, Ray Franklin, Hollywood, Calif., and several nieces and nephews.
A brother died previously.
Services will be today at Wallen's chapel, the Rev. L. Z. Patton officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
