Alvin Christian Fluckiger, 71, of Logan and a former resident of Star Valley, died Friday, Jan 11, 1980 in a Logan hospital.. Funeral services were conducted Jan 15 in the Hall Mortuary Chapel in Logan with Bp. John W. Emmett officiating.
He was born Feb 28, 1908, in Bedford, a son of Jacob Andrew and Barbara Baumgartner Fluckiger. He married LaVaun Wiitecar Oct 12, 1933, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
Fluckiger graduated from Utah State University in 1936. He was retired from the U.S. Postal service as a clerk, had worked as a foreman and education adviser in the Civilian Conservation Corps, and had been a member of the Logan City Police Department. Also, he was a Civil service examiner.
Active in the LDS Church, he was ward financial clerk in the Logan 18th Ward, a ward teacher supervisor, high priest group leader, home teacher, Sunday School teacher and temple worker.
Surviving are his wife, three sons and two daughters; Eugene Fluckiger, Canada; Mrs Leon (Paula) Savage, Hyrum, Utah; Brent Fluckiger, Providence, Utah; Scott Fluckiger and Mrs Larry (Debra) Brunson, Logan; 27 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers and three sisters, Herman Fluckiger, Mrs Elise Lindsay and Mrs Ada Gomm, all of Logan; and Norville Fluckiger who is serving a mission in the Swiss LDS Temple and Hilda Bateman, Etna. Three brothers preceded him in death.
