Buried Here Tuesday


Following an extended illness, J.B. Rickard, 65, long time resident of Davis, passed away at the home of his daughter in Fletcher, Okla., Monday at 12:50 a.m.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the First Baptist church in that city, the pastor Rev. Bell being assisted in the service by Rev. C.D. Farmer of that city.

The body was brought to Davis and laid to rest in Green Hill cemetery at 2 p.m. yesterday. A brief service was conducted at the grave by Rev. Bell.

James Bryant Rickard was born Dec. 16, 1880, at Florence, Ala. Dec. 31, 1905, he was married to Miss Intha Hunt of Davis (Indian Territory) and to this union two daughters and two sons were born. He is survived by his wife, one daughter, Mrs. Albert Janousek of Fletcher, and one son, Cpl. T. William P. Rickard, who is somewhere in France with the Seventh army.

Other survivors are: four sisters, Mrs. W.K. Roper, Overbrook, Okla.; Mrs. T.C. Wilson, Clearwater, Calif.; Mrs. Allen McKinney, Ardmore, Okla., and Mrs. J.H. Durham, Shawnee, Okla.; two brothers, S.E. Rickard, Elida, N.M., and T.L. Rickard, Davis, Okla.

At the age of 13 he moved from Alabama to Texas, later residing in Ada, Okla., three years, then moving to Davis and Sulphur where he lived for 17 years. The past 19 years he has made his home at Fletcher, Okla. He was a member of the Baptist church.
