Earl Alford Hoaglin, born 19 May 1882, Jefferson County, Iowa, is the oldest son of Charles Fremont Hoaglin (1861-1945) and Harriet Ellen "Hattie" Looney (1864-1933). Charles and Hattie were married Jan 19. 1882, Jefferson County, Iowa.

Earl was raised by his mother Hattie and step-father George Jesse Spargo, living in Rooks County, Kansas and Lincoln, Nebraska.

He married Beulah L Spargo, January 1910. Beulah is the daughter of John Wesley Spargo and Susan Strouse of Jefferson County, Iowa. Earl's step-father was a half brother to Beulah.

Earl and Beulah had 5 sons, Ivan, Elvin, Harold, Archie, Donald and 3 daughters, Harriet Wheeler, Dorothy Wheeler-Wallen and Marcella who passed as an infant. Many grandchildren and many more great grandchildren.

He is buried in Wyuka Cemetery next Beulah, does not have a headstone.
