Margaret Lois Curtis

Margaret Lois Curtis passed away May 29, 2008, at the Infinia Care Center of Safford, where she was staying for the last eight months. Margaret was born Feb. 24, 1920, in Murray, Utah.

She was the third child of Robert Eccles Baird and Malinda T. McCandless. Margaret grew up in Utah, California and Oregon and settled in Arizona, where she married Bernard H. Curtis in the Mesa Temple on Jan. 24, 1947.

Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard, on Feb. 16, 1993, and son John on Jan. 28, 1966.

Margaret was survived by five children: Gerald and wife LoAnne of Salt Lake City, Roy and wife Patty of Thatcher, Linda Skinner and husband Alvin of Safford, Elizabeth Irving (widow) of Pima, and Ruth Lane and husband John of Mesa. Margaret had 36 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren, a total posterity of 137.

Margaret was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She and her husband, Bernard, served two missions in their later years, one in Texas and one in Georgia.

She loved serving in various callings in church. She loved classical music, painting, going on trips to the ocean, flowers, sunsets, going camping in the mountains, gathering sea shells and just trying to see as much of the beautiful creations by her Heavenly Father as she could.

Viewing will be held for Margaret on Sunday evening, June 1, 6-8 p.m., at the LDS Sixth Ward chapel on 389 W. 20th St., Safford, and again before the funeral on Monday, 9:30-10:30 a.m.

Funeral services will be held Monday, June 2, at the LDS Sixth Ward chapel at 11 a.m. Interment will be at the Thatcher Cemetery, next to her husband, Bernard.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Morris Safford Funeral Home.
