RUBY BRICKER MCRAE
POLKTON - Mrs. McRae, 95, went to be with the Lord on Monday, February 28, 2005. She was born to the late Eleanor Kelly Bricker and David Scott Bricker on December 3, 1909 in Anson County, NC.

"Miss Ruby" was a lifelong member of the Polkton United Methodist Church, and active in community affairs until her relocation to an assisted living facility in Tennessee after 90th birthday. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, who lived and served her family, her church and her community. She was preceded in death by her husband, John A. McRae.

She worked as a teller at the Peachland Bank for many years. After retiring form the bank, she embarked upon a second career as a Social Director for the Grace Senior Center, where she worked until her 80th birthday.

She loved flower gardening and cooking, and was well-known for her coconut cakes. Fro many years, she wrote the Polkton News for The Anson Record/M&I. Her folksy writing style and horticultural tips endeared her to reader throughout the county and beyond.

She is survived by her daughter, Harriet McRae Butler, and her husband, George of Nashville, TN; three grandchildren; two great grandchildren; a sister, Eunice Guy of Cheraw, SC; and numerous nieces and nephews.
