COURIER JOURNAL OBITUARY - 06/30/1959
Mrs. Lela Evelyn Pike Hicks, 3002 Dixie Highway, a native of Rockcastle, Ky., died in Kentucky Baptist Hospital at 10:07 p.m. Sunday. She was 76. The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. tomorrow at Heady's Southern Funeral Home, 3601 Taylor Boulevard. Burial will be in Memorial Gardens. Surviving are her husband, Robert H. Hicks; six daughters, Mrs. Albert Jacobson, Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; Mrs. Pearl H. Gravely, Washington; Mrs. Leland W. Hite, Gainesville, Fla.; Mrs. Richard R. Simms, Mrs. Edgar Cartuyvelles, and Mrs. Willis Wooldridge; five sons, John C. Hicks, Hamilton, Ohio; Ben L. Hicks, Mansfield, Ohio; Alvin J., Austin R., and George P. Hicks; two sisters, Mrs. John E. Evans, Detroit; and Mrs. Ralph Castle, Knoxville, Tenn.; four brothers, J. Ben Pike, Brodhead, Ky.; Charles R. Pike, Etowah, Tenn.; E. Roscoe Pike, Ludlow, Ky.; J. B. Pike, Lebanon Junction, Ky.; 24 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren.
