Funeral services for Mrs. Gladys Pleasant Lacks will be held Friday at 3 p.m. at St. Matthew Baptist Church with the Rev. Whitfield Scott officiating.
Burial will follow in the Lacks Family Cemetery in Clover.
Mrs. Lacks, of Finch Lane in Clover, died Sunday in Halifax County.
She was 84.
Mrs. Lacks was born in Roanoke on October 21, 1920, the daughter of the late John R. Pleasant and Eliza Pleasant. She was married to the late Waverly Lacks Sr. and was a member of St. Matthew Baptist Church in Clover.
She is survived by two daughters, Eliza Brooks of Washington D.C. and Brenda Lacks of Clover; two sons, Alexander Lacks of New Haven, Conn. and Waverly Lacks Jr. of Clover; 16 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; a son-in-law; three daughters-in-law and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Mrs. Lacks was preceded in death by two daughters, Edith Lacks and Ora Lacks and a son, Gary Lacks.
The family will receive friends at the residence, 1040 Finch Lane, Clover.
