Ida G. Day, age 90, died December 3, 2001, of causes incident to old age.
Ida was born in Fairview, Utah, on Oct. 30, 1911.
She married Arthur M. Day, also of Fairview, on June 29, 1932 in the Manti Temple.
She is survived by her husband, now 93; her three sons, Merrill, Ronald, and Bryant; daughters in-law Joyce and Shirlene; ten grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Two infant daughters, Donna and Dixie, preceded her in death.
Ida was a born musician. Starting at age 16, she began serving as pianist in the LDS Fairview North Ward Primary organization, and subsequently assumed the duties of ward pianist and organist.
She also became a much sought-after accompanist for both soloists and musical groups.
Ida and Arthur moved to Provo in the summer of 1951.
In the years that followed, Ida worked in the clothing industry and at the Utah Valley Regional Hospital.
She also continued her church service as ward pianist and organist, positions she held into her 80's.
Between 1964 and 1966, Ida and Arthur filled an LDS mission in South Carolina.
Following her retirement at the hospital, Ida began studying painting and soon became a talented artist: her paintings of Mount Timpanogos, Southern Utah landscapes, and other subjects now grace the walls of homes in Utah and beyond. One of her larger works can be seen in the Fairview Museum of History and Art.
Ida's overriding concern, her passion was always the health, success, and happiness of her family.
She loved to gather them at the house in Provo and celebrate their togetherness with her delicious home-cooked meals.
None who knew her will ever forget her sweet smile, her patience, her spirit of absolute love and devotion.
Funeral services will be Saturday, Dec. 8th at 11 a.m., in the Provo 6th Ward Chapel, 888 So.
Freedom Blvd. (200 West). Friends may call from 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to the service.
A viewing will be held Fri. evening, Dec. 7th, between 6-8 p.m., at the Walker Family Mortuary 85 E. 300 So., Provo.
Burial will follow at the Fairview cemetery at 2 p.m.
Services are under the direction of Walker Family Mortuary of Provo.
