His father, John was among the first settlers of Woodstock, from Roxbury he came to Woodstock in 1686 where he married Mary Raymond. All of John's children were born in Woodstock.

Here lies ye body of William Chandler Esq.
Who departed this life June 20th AD 1754. He decended from William Chandler and Annis his wife that were of ye first setlers of Roxbery and from him by his youngest son John Chandler who moved to this Town in ye infancy theirof and then of and from him by his eldest son John Chandler who was father of ye deceased. He left behind 7 sons and 3 daughters.
