Albert Nardone, Sr., 89, passed away on January 31, 2010 in Houston, TX, where his sons live, although he was a long time Yonkers, NY resident. He was preceded in death by his wife of fifty-two years, Frances.


A World War II veteran, Mr. Nardone served with the US Army 27th Division, 102nd Combat Engineers in the Pacific Theater. Nicknamed by his buddies as "Engineer Al," he served from 1940-1945, and participated in a number of notable campaigns, including the invasion of Saipan.


He is retired from the US Postal Service and served for a number of years as maitre de at Lauritano's in The Bronx.


He was born in The Bronx on February 18, 1920 to the late Dominico and Arminia Ceveli Nardone, and is survived by four of his seven siblings: Blanche, Caroline, Eugene, and Joe. He is also survived by his sons and daughtersin-law, Al & Carroll, and Jim & Norma. He has 6 grandchildren: Gina, Angela, Alyssa, Kathryn, Andrew, and Nicholas.


A Funeral Mass for Albert will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Friday in St. Eugene's Church in Yonkers.
Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, NY.
Visiting hours for family and friends will be held on Thursday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at F. RUGGIERO & SONS, INC. 732 Yonkers Avenue, Yonkers, NY.
