Dies September 24
Charley Britton Birkes, 77, died Thursday, September 24, in the Veterans Hospital, Muskogee. He was a retired carpenter, and had been a long-time resident of Eufaula
and Mcintosh County.
Funeral services were Saturday, September 26, at 2:00 p. m. in the United Pentecostal Church with Mrs. Lucy Vaughn officiating, assisted by Rev. Buddy Powell.
Survivors include his wife Ella of the home, Eufaula; 3 daughters, Mrs. Juanita Bess and Mrs. Charlen Majors, Eufaula, and Mrs. Shirley Williamson of Miami; 2 sisters, Mrs. Evelyn Willis, and Mrs. Virginia Avery of Tulsa; 10
grandchildren and two greatgrandchildren. Pallbearers were J. B. Parker, Keith Burnham, Robert Rhinehart, Linoel Mounce, and Clarence Kirby.
Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery here under the direction of Kelley Funeral Home.
