Thomas was a young man when he married his first wife in Maine, Miss Charlotte Wooster. She died a little more than a year after the marriage, leaving a little baby girl.

In 1853 he married his second wife, Miss Nancy Packard, also of Maine. In 1869 Captain Amsbury he lost his second wife, she having did soon after reaching San Francisco, leaving one daughter.

In 1870 he married his third wife, Mrs. Rebecca (née Carter) Harrison, of San Francisco, and in 1871, with his family, he moved to Napa county. On July 14, 1895, Rebecca died.

Thomas is survived by two daughters, Miss Charlotte Amsbury, of Camden Maine, and Mrs. Nellie Gove, of Seattle, WA., three grandchildren and four great grandchildren; also by a step-daughter, Rebecca W. Harrison and a step-son, William S. Harrison of whom made their home with the Captain; a brother Capt. A.T. Amsbury, of Greenwood, MA; one sister, Mrs. A.O. Jordan of Sacramento.
