Enlisted as Corp. on 7/1/1861 at age of 21. 26th NC Regiment.
Wounded July 21 1863 at Gettysburg Pa! His Company went on that week to fight in Pickett's Charge.
Returned on 12/15/1863
Promoted to full Sergeant on 12/15/1863
Wounded on 8/25/1864 at Ream's Station
Paroled on 4/9/1865 at Appomattox Courthouse Virginia where Gen Robert E Lee surrendered.

Was living in Soldiers Home when he died. Son of Thomas Gaddy and Elizabeth "Betsy" McLendon Gaddy.

Note: Was a former Sheriff of Anson County.
