Forest City, NC - Rev. William W. Womack died at his residence in Mill Springs Community in Polk County, NC, on Tuesday afternoon, Jan. 9, 1934, at 2:30 o'clock. A Confederate Veteran and a Minister of the Gospel and an invalid for three years. He developed pneumonia several days ago, which proved fatal. He lacked only six months of being 90 years of age. Funeral services were held at Lebanon Methodist Church, near Mill Springs, Polk County, NC, which he formerly was pastor, on Wednesday, Jan. 13, 1934. Survivors included: four daughters and three sons; Mrs. J. R. Hardin, of Forest City, NC, Mrs. W. E. Elliott, of Mill Springs, NC, Misses Coree and Minnie Womack, of Mill Springs, NC, J. E. Womack, of Forest City, NC, A. A. Womack, of Greensboro, NC and T. L. Womack, of Mill Springs, NC. Mr. Womack was widely known. He was born and reared near in the Rutherford-Polk County, NC line, and volunteered for service in the War Between the States. After the war he returned home and was licensed to preachby the Methodist Church in 1872. His firs charge was the Columbus mission, consisting of five Polk County, NC churches. He held a number of other appointmenst over the western part of the state, but due to bad healthhad not preached for several years. He was 89 years of age at demise and interment was in the Lebanon Methodist Church Cemetery.
