Enlisted August 8, 1864 as Private with Co. A. 3rd Mounted Tennessee Infantry mustered out December 13, 1864.

Creed Boyer was a soldier in the Union Army. He was also Sheriff of Cocke County for five terms, Mayor of Newport, Circuit Court Clerk, Justice of the Peace, State Representative, and school teacher.
