Mary BUSHNELL was born on 4 Jan 1654 in Norwich, New London County, Connecticut to Richard BUSHNELL 1623–1660 and Mary MARVIN 1628–1713. After her father passed away, her mother married widowed Deacon Thomas ADGATE 1620–1707.

She married Ensign Thomas LEFFINGWELL, son of Lieutenant Thomas LEFFINGWELL and Mary WHITE? (White is not proven), in September 1672 in Norwich, New London County, Connecticut.

She died at age 91 on 2 December 1745 in Norwich, New London County, Connecticut. She was buried in the Old Burying Ground in Norwich, New London County, Connecticut; Her tombstone was still standing as late as 1896.
