Death of Mrs. Brass.
The many friends were sorry to learn of the death of Mrs. Orson N. Brass, mother of Mr. E. M. Brass of this city, which occurred last evening at 7 o'clock, at the latter's home on East Second street after only a day's illness. Two weeks ago she returned from an extended visit to Illinois. She looked very young for a lady of her age, 69 years, and enjoyed the best of health but it appears she contracted a cold en route home. Last Monday she was taken ill with heart trouble and after just a day's illness passed away.

Mrs. Emma Wilbur Brass was born in New York state July 7, 1838, and spent the early years of her life there. In the spring of the year 1854 she moved to McHenry county, Ill., where four years later on the 27th of October, she was married to Mr. Orson N. Brass. They lived in Illinois, Mr. Brass following farming for fifty-one years, remaining on the one farm for forty-two years straight near Seneca, Ill. This old home place was sold two years ago and they then came to this city and since then have made there home with Mr. and Mrs. E. M. Brass. There were nine children born to this union, all of whom are still living except the oldest daughter, Mrs. L. Brown of Woodstock, Ill., who died about a year ago. Besides the heart broken husband, there are E. M. Brass of this city, L. D. Brass of Woodstock, Ill., C. N. Brass of Tempe, Ariz., Mrs. G. S. Randall of West McHenry, Ill., Mrs. Charles Florida of Comstock, Neb., E. F. Brass of Caldwell, Idaho, A. B. Brass of Sergent, and R. C. Brass of Woodstock, Ill., to mourn her loss. Mrs. Brass was the last to survive of the Wilbur family, her maiden name. A short service will be held at the Brass home tomorrow morning at 10:30 and the remains will be sent to Marengo, Ill., on No. 6 which leaves here at 11:45, accompanied by all the relatives in these parts. It is expected that the funeral will be held at Marengo on Friday afternoon and all relatives expect to be present. The bereaved ones have the sympathy of their many friends in this community.
