Elaine Freeman Lewis, 75, passed away unexpectedly on January 14, 2010 due to complications related to scleroderma.

Elaine was born in Herriman, Utah to Levi and Elma Freeman on May 22, 1934.

Her family moved to Bountiful when she was young. There she met the love of her life and eternal companion, David Foss Lewis, at Cantaloupe Days. They shared a melon and cottage cheese, and then she stole his heart. They were married in Elko, Nevada on May 17, 1952. They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on May 17, 1955.

She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, where she served faithfully in many callings. She loved people and meeting new friends, and one of her favorite callings was being a greeter for Sacrament Meeting. She made friends everywhere she went and was loved by many. Elaine had double the energy of most people and used that energy to work hard and enjoy life. She was employed by Davis County School District as a cook for twenty years.

She kept an immaculate house and yard, and even won a certificate from Bountiful City for her gardens. Her biggest joy was her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, caregiver, and matriarch who showed her love to all of us in many ways. We will miss her greatly.

Elaine is survived by her husband, Dave; children, Vickie (David) Cerva, Bill (Bonnie) Lewis, Jay (Jennifer) Lewis, and Chris (Anne) Lewis; nine grandchildren; and fifteen great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her infant son, Dale Scott.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in the Val Verda First Ward Chapel, 2633 South 50 West, Bountiful, UT. Friends and family may call at a viewing held on Monday, January 18, 2010 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main Street, Bountiful, and Tuesday prior to the services from 9:45-10:45 a.m. at the Church.
Interment will be in the Bountiful Memorial Park.
