Dagney Gustafson, 87, formerly of Felch, Michigan, died Sunday, April 27, 2003, at ManorCare Health Services in Kingsford.

The former Dagney Anderson was born Oct. 22, 1915, in Metropolitan, daughter of the late Erick Anderson and Ida (Nylund) Anderson.

Dagney married Rudolph Gustafson on Feb. 15, 1941. He preceded her in death on Jan. 12, 1989.

She had worked for the Headstart Program and for Hancock Wood Products before retiring. Dagney enjoyed handcrafts and knitting, along with gardening and sports.

She was survived by four daughters, Marilyn (Steve) Charlevoix of Foster City, Diane (Tom) Kenny of Hardwood, Rita (Dewey) Carlson of Foster City and Joanne (Allen) Shangle of Gaylord, lower Michigan; seven grandchildren, Lynn (Shad) Ackerman, Steve (Maureen) Charlevoix Jr., Amy (Dan) Steele, Rhonda (Craig) Mattson, Lee Ann Kenny, Cheri (Rob) Challancin and Dan Carlson; eight great-grandchildren, Ronald and Quenten Ackerman, Brittany and Elizabeth Charlevoix, Taylor and Lexi Steele, Alison Mattson and Alec Challancin; three sisters, Dorothy Gustafson of Illinois, Esther (Arvid) Backlund of Washington and Lynn (Albert) Backlund of California; two sisters-in-law, Ruth Saxon and Helen Gustafson, both of Kingsford, and many nieces and nephews.

Dagney Gustafson was also preceded in death by a brother, Nestor Anderson, and four sisters, Jennie Timmer, Edith Johnson, Mildred Swanson and Elsie Hagman.
