Washington - Barbara Horsley Wall Sherratt passed away February 2, 2010, at her home in Washington, Utah. She was 101. She was born November 14, 1908, in Paragonah, Utah to John and Abigail Abbott Horsley. She was the fifth of nine children.
She spent her life in Southern Utah, Southern Nevada, and Southern California. During her life she learned to "bloom wherever she was planted". She made the best of every situation, realizing that life is a time for testing and education.
She was a member of the LDS Church, serving faithfully in many organizations. She especially loved serving in the Primary.
She inspired many friends with her positive influence. She loved to write notes and letters of encouragement to missionaries, youth, and others who touched her life.
She married the love of her life, Raymond S. Wall, January 1, 1940, in El Monte, California, and was later sealed in the St. George Temple, December 19, 1944. They shared many interests, but especially enjoyed record keeping and genealogy. He died January 6, 1983.
She married Earl K. Sherratt, January 3, 1989, in the Los Angeles Temple, and moved to Washington, Utah. Earl and Barbara made many trips back to California to visit friends and family. They often traveled with her brother, Donald and his wife, Janet, visiting historical sites of the LDS Church.
They loved most of all to be at home sharing many life experiences together, and taking great care of each other until he died October 6, 2003. She diligently worked on genealogy throughout the remainder of her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, brothers and sisters, and a stepson, James Sherratt. She is survived by her brother, Donald Horsley and his wife Janet, stepdaughters; Ranee Burtis, Marie (Leon) McTeer, step-granddaughter, Odette (Garth) Nisson, step-grandsons; Charles (Babette) Burtis, Earl (Lynette) Burtis and many step-greatgrandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 6, 2010 at 11 a.m. at the Washington LDS Main Street Chapel, 82 North Main Street, Washington, Utah. Visitations will be held on Friday, February 5, 2010 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Metcalf Mortuary, 288 W. St. George Blvd., St. George, Utah and on Saturday, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the chapel, prior to services. Interment will be on Tuesday, February 9, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. at Desert Lawn Memorial Park, 11251 Desert Lawn Dr., Calimesa, California. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Metcalf Mortuary.
