Walter was born May 7, 1929 in Pershing Iowa. He served in the U.S. Air Force. Walter was a truck driver for the City of Des Moines retiring in 1992. Walter was also an antique dealer, loved to fish and hunt, and was known for collecting trains and watches.
Walter is survived by his wife of 62 years, Bonnie Stahl; children, Sheryl (Charles) Cupp of Des Moines, Donald Stahl of Des Moines, and Darold Stahl of Des Moines; grandchildren, Michael (Julie) Cupp, Angela Kennedy, Brandon Cupp, and Amanda Stahl; great-grandchildren, Taylor Cupp, Devin Cupp, Jaylen Cooper, Cameron Lint, Liberty Kimmel, Vincent Cupp, Katie Stahl, and Carmine Kennedy; a brother, Marvin Stahl; and nephews Bobby Miller, Jarmen Miller, and James Stahl.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Florence Stahl; grandson, Jon Stahl; and 14 siblings.
