James M. (Jim) Norman passed away on February 2, 2010, at St. Francis hospital from injuries suffered in an automobile accident. Jim was born in Canyon Springs, OK on October 18, 1919, to Robert and Emma Jane Norman. He was raised by his aunt and uncle, Frank and Mattie Norman, after the death of his father. Jim served in the Army Air Corp during WWII in England and France. He met Vanoice Roberts in Ada, OK and they were married on September 16, 1945, in Sulphur, OK. Jim worked his way through school at East Central University in Ada earning his Bachelor's and Master's degrees. He began his teaching career in Asher, OK in 1952, where he taught history, govern- ment and social studies and coached all school sports for boys and girls. He continued his teaching and coaching career after moving to Tulsa in 1955. In 1968, Jim became an Asst. Principal and he continued in that role until his retirement in 1984. Jim is survived by his wife, Vanoice, of the home, son, Greg Norman of Queen Creek, AZ and daughter, Vicki Larkin of Tulsa, one daughter-in-law, eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. A celebration of Jim's life will be held 11:00 A.M., Saturday, February 6, 2010, at Brookside Baptist Church with graveside services following at Memorial Park cemetery. Moore's Southlawn.
