Gene, 65, a loving husband, father and grandfather passed away. Gene was the son of Gene & Edna Robarts, (who have also passed away). His sister, Barbara Schneider & brother Robert have also passed away. Gene's passing was due to complications from Lou Gehrig's disease,(ALS).

Gene is survived by his wife of almost 23 years (together 30 years), Kathleen Robarts of Tampa, son Chris, a Burbank police officer, and his wife Chesne; granddaughter, Taylor Lee; and grandson, Ryan Thomas Robarts, of Castaic, CA. son Jason, of Ventura CA. sheriff of Simi Vally, CA; and stepson, Brett Robarts of North Hollywood, CA. He is also survived by 1 brother, David P. Robarts, a retired assistant Chief of Police, of Eric, PA and his wife, Norma; and niece, Kimberly Bond (Robarts), along with other nieces and nephews. Gene's "special adopted family", nurses, Lisa and Gabby Stablein and Logan Ausloos. Gene also leaves his loving family cats.

Gene was born in Orlean, NY and moved with his family to Erie, PA in 1952 and attended St. Andrews Grade School, then attended and graduated from Strong Vincent High School in 1962. He went into the U.S. Army after high school, during the Vietnam ear, and served active duty until 1965 and reservist until 1968 in the 7th Army.

After his discharge, he worked for Pennsylvania Electric Co. as line truck driver and apprentice lineman until 1967. Gene moved to Hollywood, CA in 11-1967, looking for a career as a stunt man. He balanced the next years with work and raising a family. He was a member of the American Legion. Gene was involved in his sons' Little League as a manager then board memeber, and was also into camping in California Nationl Forests and Campgrounds.

The family came to Florida for month-long stays each year to canoe, fish and tail gate with Gene & Kathy. Gene was also a board member of his most recent community, Pat Acres, in Town and Country, and belonged to the Gold Shield Foundation, as well as Hillsborough Sheriff Youth Ranch. Gene moved to Florida in 1980 from Burbank, CA, and met his current wife, Kathy. Theirs was a loving and caring relationship that kept them together. They were partners, lovers and best friends.

In Tampa he worked for the Merriott Hotel chain in their beverage services department until 1983. Gene was in the construction field in Tampa, in the building of strip malls, large apartment complexes and one of the first commercial hotel units on the Courtney Campell Causeway, Brocks Resident Inn, in 1985. He went to work for GTE in 1986 and retired from GTE/Verizon in 2002. Gene and Kathy spent their retirement playing golf and visiting cemeteries for their genealogy, which took them traveling around the couutry. They enjoyed meeting relatives and many other interesting people.

In recent years, they were very involved in the Florida Chapter of ALS. Their team, Robarts' Feet was the #1 team in the Tampa Walk to D'FEAT ALS for the past 4 years. THe family want to thank all family and friends for their wonderful support.

A memorial service was held at Brewer & Sons Funeral Home in Tampa. The National Cremation Society will handle final wishes.

In lieu of flowers, Gene & Kathy asked to please make a contribution to "Robarts' Feet", ALSFL, Tampa in remembrance of Gene.
