Parents: Israel P/Rachel LaGrange Mersereau. Grandson of Rev. War hero John Mersereau. Civil War - Signal Corps. Owned "Union Mills" where a million feet of lumber was rafted down river each year. Built the "Major House" hotel and tavern in the village of Union in 1852-53 and was its proprietor until 1857.
