Anchorage resident Florence K. Tobler, 82, died June 18, 2009 of leukemia at Providence Alaska Medical Center. A service was at Evergreen Memorial Chapel. A service was at Evergreen Memorial Chapel, 737 E St., with burial at Anchorage Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are with Janssen's Evergreen Memorial Chapel.
Florence was born Aug. 12, 1926 in Watertown, N.Y. She was employed with J.M. Fields in Orlando, Fla., from 1958 to 1964, Goldblatts in Elkhart, Ind., from 1964 to 1966, and SandH Green Stamp Store in South Bend, Ind., from 1967 to 1973. She was affiliated with Eastern Star. She was Catholic as a child and later became Lutheran. She became a resident of Alaska in the '80s.
Her hobbies were gardening, house decorating, crocheting, cooking, and bowling. Her family wrote, "Florence read and studied the Bible daily. She had a close relationship with God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit, and a strong belief in and visitations with angels. She was a strong, spiritual woman, a giver to all in need. She was the loving spouse of Toby Tobler."
Donations may be made to the American Cancer Association, Alaska Heart Association, and Alaska Lung Association.
