After his death in Griffin the family started using the Dix spelling. The legal name in my own direct line from my father Travis William Dick/Dix is now Dix.
My aunt Emma Dick Dix Ellis Osborn paid for the markers on her Father and mother's grave.
Aunt Emma knew at that time that her father never used the Dix spelling but she chose to use the Dix spelling rather than the Dick spelling.
