Robert Earl "Bob" Craig
1921 - 2009

Bob was born in Compton, CA and lived there until he entered the US Navy in October of 1940. He flew patrol and bombing missions during WWII in the Pacific. Bob was very proud of his service which covered 20 years and included rapid advancement to his Chief Petty Officer rating. He proudly served and had many interesting, exciting and harrowing experiences. Bob started early on as a plane crewman on the PBY "Catalina" aircraft. After a crash on a water bounce check flight he was hospitalized for six weeks and then assigned to a new squadron flying the four-engine PB4Y.

A couple of years after retirement from the Navy he went to work for the State of California as a Correctional Officer and rose to the rank of Sergeant before retiring with 20 year's service.

Bob and his wife Garnett loved their home in Paradise, as well as traveling, but more important was their love of family and their dogs. Regretfully, he was preceded in death by his son Jim Craig, his daughter Sharon Barak, and his wife Garnett. Two brothers, William and Alvin also passed away before him. He is survived by his brother Richard of Oakhurst; two granddaughters, Pamela Huddleston and Kimber McLaughlin; and his great-grandchildren.

Their dearest friends, Gloria and Ray Stryker, from Paradise, are administering his estate.

Rose Chapel on Clark Rd. will be open for visitations on Thursday, January 15th from 4 to 6 p.m. At twelve noon on Friday, January 16th there will be the military graveside services at the Paradise Cemetery. Casual attire please.

Bob will be missed by all who knew him as well as those who enjoyed seeing him with his two dogs, Margie and Molly.

Bob will be reunited with Garnett and share their resting place at Paradise Cemetery.
