Thomas Benton married Lela Eula Yearwood's Mother, Josephine Yearwood, who had been widow for a year or more. He became Lela's step daddy Papa Tom. Thomas and Josephine married on 23, April 1882. According to Lela, he was a real daddy to Lela and Bethel and just as good to them as his own children who were born later, of which there were three little girls and two boys. The first girl's name was Noly Corene show later married Edwin Munson. She had red hair, blue eyes, and freckles on her face. She and Edwin had five children. The second girl's name was Fairy Bell, and she was blond hair and grey eyes, she later married Carroll Sunday. When the first little boy was born, he died on July 29, 1891. That left the other little boy, who was named John F.; he died about 6 months later with whooping cough.
