Alice Fay Tunstill, 95, died Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2006.
Funeral: 10 a.m. Friday at Thompson's Harveson & Cole Funeral Home. Dr. Mark Woods will officiate. Burial: Laurel Land Memorial Park. Visitation: Mrs. Tunstill will lie in state 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Alice Fay Tunstill was born June 25, 1911, in Poolville, daughter of the late Murry and Minnie Oxford Blakney. Alice had resided in Fort Worth since 1914 and retired as an office manager with Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. after numerous years. She was a member of the TelecomPioneers of America since her retirement. A longtime Baptist, she had been a member of various churches in the area.
After her retirement, she spent much time in historical research, especially interested in the life of Billy the Kid, serving as a board member and historical researcher for the exhibit at Canton.
Widow of W.A. Carnes and W.A. Tunstill, she was also preceded in death by her brother, Dale Blakney; and sisters, Frieda Blakney and Virginia Wakefield.
Survivors: Sister, Lorraine Higgins; and nephews, nieces, great-nephews, great-nieces, great-great-nephews and great-great-nieces.
