While Virginia C. Shiflet Corbin was Roy's birth mother, records indicate that she tragically passed away mere days after his birth. Years later, his father later remarried and his new wife, Mary Jane (Stone) Corbin, helped raise Roy and his siblings.
History should remember both of these women as Roy's mothers, Virginia as his birth mother who brought him into this world and loving him as long as she was was on this Earth. Also Mary Jane Stone Corbin, for helping to raise Roy when she became the new matriarch for the family. Without the record of both of these fine women, the Corbin family story is incomplete.
