He spent 20 years at Hull and the rest of his life in Galesburg. He farmed most of his life and had worked for the past four years at St. Mary's Hospital.
He married Emma Mildred Baker Nov. 2, 1919, at Hull. She survives with four sons, Lewis, Robert, James, and Lee, all of Galesburg; four daughters, Mrs Delpha (Cecil) Moore, Mrs Emily (Dean) Foster, Mrs Sharol (Bud) Rhea, and Barbara Connour, all of Galesburg; a brother, Verl of Galesburg; two sisters, Mrs Verna Shinn of Spring Valley, CA and Mrs Viola Anderson of Chapin, IL; 18 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Chapel with Rev. John Shearer of First Church of the Open bible officiating. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens.
