As noted the Georgia National Guard History records: Thomas Harris Blissitt was born Oct. 13, 1897 to farmers John and Mary Blissitt of Monroe County, Ga. Blissitt grew up working on the family farm and enlisted in Casual Company, 2nd Infantry Regiment, Georgia Guard July 2, 1917. In August 1917 he was assigned to Company A, 151st Machine Gun Battalion and sailed to France with the Battalion in October 1917. Blissitt was killed in action July 28, 1918 near Sergy France. He was 20.
