Jim was a graduate of Auburn University receiving a degree in Chemical Engineering. He was a member of the Phi Theta Kappa and Tau Beta Pi fraternities at Auburn. He worked for Exxon Corporation (Bayway) for 34 years before retiring in 1992. He was a member of the Christ Episcopal Church in Middletown and AIChE- American Institute of Chemical Engineers. In 1954 he played in the Junior Rose Bowl Championship team for Hinds Junior College.
