Ben Chaney dies at 63, buried in Lax, Ga. Funeral services for Ben Chaney, 63, of Ocilla who died in the Irwin County Hospital at 7:15 P.M. Friday, July 11, 1969 were held from Lax Holiness Baptist Church. Interment was in the Lax Cemetery.
Survivors included: HIs widow, Mrs. Olif Harper Chaney, Ocilla, Ga.; five sons,
Natheniel Chaney, Douglas; John D. Chaney, Jacksonville, Florida; J. T. Chaney, Ocilla,
Harper Chaney, Wray; Jerry Chaney, Ambrose; three daughters: Mrs. Max (Lorene) Sirmans, Macon; Mrs. Dwight (Delia) Lott, Douglas; and Mrs. Tony Hutto, Wray; also, a brother, Dewey Chaney, and two sisters, Mrs. Jim Peeks, Ocilla and Mrs. Emma Joiner,
Pascagoula, Mississippi. Twenty three grandchildren also survive.
