Ode E. Rector, 69, pioneer Lincoln druggist, died at Bailey's sanitorium after a protracted illness. He had been ill for some time with an infection in his leg. Gangrene set in and efforts to save his life by amputating the leg were unsuccessful.

Mr. Rector, who came to Lincoln with his parents in 1876, first clerked in the H. W. Brown drug store. His father, H. C. Rector, also was in the drug business for a time.

In 1890 Mr. Rector started the drug business for himself, establishing a store on the northwest corner of Twelfth and N streets. He later moved to Twelfth and O Streets corner where Magee's store stands today. When the Magee building was erected, Mr. Rector moved to Thirteen and P streets. He sold the store in 1922 to Clarence E. Bucholz who has oeprated it since.

Mr. Rector was born April 10, 1863 at Champaign, Ill. He is survived by his wife, Nellie.
