Besides his vast manufacturing experience, Lyman, Spartanburg County, South Carolina was named after Mr. Lyman, a past president of Pacific Textile Mill. After his death, Pacific Mills built a plant and began operations in 1923, in the community of Groce's Stop. The town name was officially changed to Lyman. The mill made Lyman economically independent.
