JUNCTION CITY --- Albert A. Buskey Jr., 49, Junction City, died Sunday, Oct. 28, 2001, at his home.

Mr. Buskey worked in law enforcement the past 25 years and was a patrol sergeant for the Grandview Plaza Police Department at the time of his death. He began his career as a student police officer with the Kent State University Police Department in 1977. He was a patrol officer for the Junction City Police Department from 1977 to 1981, and he worked for the Wabaunsee County Sheriff's Office from 1981 to 1983. He was a Geary County sheriff's deputy from 1983 to 1993, where he supervised detectives, was a photographer, crime scene search technician and computer technician. He was a special investigator for the Human Rights Commission from 1994 to 1999.

Mr. Buskey served in the Army as a medical specialist from 1968 to 1977 and did two tours of Vietnam. He was decorated with the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal with 60 device, Bronze Star Medal with "V" device for valor, Army Commendation Medal, Air Medal, Good Conduct Medal second award and the Vietnam Service Medal with four campaigns.

He was born Oct. 30, 1951, in Worcester, Mass., the son of Albert A. and Mary Johnson Buskey Sr.

Mr. Buskey was a 30-year member of Post No. 45 of the American Legion, Voiture 1029 Forty et Eight, a life member of Chapter No. 344 of the Vietnam Veterans of America and a member of the Kansas State Vietnam Memorial Supporters and Kansas Peace Officers Association.

He married Jane K. Buskey. She survives.

Other survivors include a stepson, Tillison L. Rucker Jr., Junction City; and his father, Albert A. Buskey Sr., Worcester, Mass.

Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the American Legion Post in Junction City. Burial will be at Highland Cemetery in Junction City. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Johnson Funeral Chapel in Junction City.
