Mrs. Velma E. Holsopple, 79, of Arnold, formerly of Oakland, died Friday in Anne Arundel General Hospital, Annapolis.

Born in Oakland, she was a daughter of the late Lorenzo H. Fike and Laura (Myers) Fike. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence F. Holsopple. She was a member of the Church of the Brethren.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Gladys I. Martin, Arnold, with whom she resided, and Mrs. Dorothy l. Shank, Glen Burnie; one son, C. Harold Holsopple, Oakland, six sisters, Mrs. Mabel Arnold, Mt. Lake Park; Mrs. Maria McFarland, Frostburg; Mrs. Ruth Barnes, Oakland; Mrs. Ethel Sauro, Fairmont; Mrs. Opal Martin, Lake Worth, Fla., and Mrs. Vivian Snader, Catonsville; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Friends were received in the Stewart Funeral Home, Oakland.

Services were conducted Monday in the Oak Park Church of the Brethren with the Rev. Verne Leininger officiating. Interment was in the Gortner Cemetery.
