Lawson H. Kemp, 73, was an oil field pumper and farmer. He moved to Young County in 1912 from Comanche County, Texas He was born in Hamilton County, Texas to the late Mr. and Mrs. George F. Kemp. He was a member of the Murray Baptist Church, American Legion and a veteran of World War I.

Lawson Kemp married Ruth Carmack of Murray. She preceded him in death.

Survived by five daughters - Mrs. Sara Bell James, Mrs. Doris Ruth Maygarden, Mrs. Alice Lee Ballenger, Mrs. George Ann Chenault, Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Covey; two brothers - J.O. Kemp and H.L. Kemp; three sisters - Mrs. Bessie McGlothin, Mrs. Eula George, Mrs. Estie Hamilton.
