She married John Groom 19 Nov 1850 Ryhall, Rutlandshire, England

She was a midwife & died of a gall bladder attack.
Her brother William Groom also lived in Jasper Co., IN.

She immigrated to the US 7 May 1857 on the ship "Jeremiah Thompson".
He was a farmer & later a veterinarian.

Death of Mrs. John Groom
Mrs. Mary Ann Groom, wife of John Groom, a well-known and esteemd citizen of Barkely township, died last Thursday at the age of 62 years, 9 months, and 14 days. She had had a severe attack of LaGrippe, and had apparently recovered, but a few days before her death she suffered a relapse and died, as stated.
She was born in Rutland County, England, was married in 1851, and was the mother of eleven children, only five of whom survive. Her funeral was held in the M.E. church, last Sunday, Rev. T.F. Drake preaching the funeral sermons.
