Elbert Peery Barnett, age 89, passed away on Monday, January 25, 2010 at his home. He resided at 3537 West Barnett Lane (12680 South) in Spring Lake, Utah at the time of his death.

He was born July 25, 1920 in Mammoth, Utah to Eli Francis and Minnie May Peery Barnett.

He married Olive Thomas on October 11, 1939 in Spring Lake. Their marriage was solemnized on June 28, 1963 in the Manti LDS Temple. She preceded him in death on May 27, 1997.

He was educated in Spring Lake and Payson schools. He served in the US Navy during World War II. He was a lifelong farmer and worked in the mines, retiring from Kennecott Copper Tintic Division. Elbert enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, traveling and spending time with his family. He was such a great example as a father and grandfather and will be missed by his entire family.

Survivors include his children: Linda (Dennis) Stanton, JoLene (Stephen) Coon, Kathy (Roy) Moore, Frank (Catherine) Barnett, all of Spring Lake; sixteen grandchildren; thirty-two great-grandchildren; a sister, Nedra Stauffer, of Mesquite, Nevada. He was preceded in death by: his son, Tommy, two brothers, and five sisters.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 30, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in the Spring Lake First Ward Chapel, 12625 South Spring Lake Road, where friends may call from 9:30-10:45 a.m.
Burial will be in the Payson City Cemetery with full military rites accorded by the American Legion, Dist. #4.
