Funeral services for Mr. Lescar W. Harlan,Sr., age 87 of Ruston, will be held Sunday, January 31, 2010 at Temple Baptist Church in Ruston with Dr. Rick Byargeon and Rev. Dale Oden officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery in Ruston under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Ruston. Mr. Harlan was born November 12, 1922 in Jonesboro to James P. Harlan, Sr. and Frances Willis Harlan and died January 27, 2010 at his home in Ruston. He was a veteran of the US Navy serving in WWII. Mr. Harlan was a maintenance technician for Southern Natural Gas and retired from there after 35 years of service. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church in Ruston.
Mr. Harlan is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mary Alice Causey Harlan; his son Lescar W. Harlan, Jr (Tinker) and wife Kim of Arlington, Texas; his daughter Rebekah Ann (Becky) and husband John Darrell Strozier of Ruston; his grandsons John Craig Harlan Strozier, Michael Shane Strozier and James R. Haynes; his granddaughters Polly Haynes Humble and Georgiana Haynes Hadaway; his four great grandchildren; his two sisters Velma Brashear and Joyce Gorham as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter Mary Frances Harlan Haynes; his great granddaughter Amber N. Haynes; five brothers and four sisters.

Pallbearers will be John Craig Harlan Strozier, Michael Shane Strozier, James Haynes, John Pearce Brashear, Homer Allen Brashear and Seth Humble. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM Saturday, January 30, 2010 at Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in Ruston.
