William was the son of Isaac & Sarah Hufford Rinehart. On 25 December 1870, he married Sarah Welty. They were the parents of Ida, Charles, and Chauncey. Sarah died in 1877 and her burial location is unknown.

On 10 June 1877, William married a widow and cousin of Sarah, Barbara Welty Stephenson. They were the parents of Sarah Elmira, Jessie Ellen (Moore), Effie Mae, Bertha (Sheets) and Rena Opal. Barbara died in 1902.

On 15 March 1904, William married Rosetta Archibald. They were the parents of twin boys William and David (both died at birth) and Mary (Doctor).

William is buried with his 3rd wife, Rosetta.

WILLIAM RHINEHART FUNERAL WAS HELD YESTERDAY

DECATUR, Ind., March 9 - The funeral of William Rhinehart who died last Friday night after a long illness of cancer of the liver and bowels was held this morning at the late home west of the city. Rev. Newcomb had charge of the service. The body was placed in the vault at Maplewood cemetery where it will remain for thirty days after which interment will be made in Maplewood cemetery.
