William H. Brandow, a prominent resident of his village, passed from this life at 2:45 o'clock yesterday morning at the age of 82 years, two months and eleven days. The immediate cause of his death was apoplexy. He had been suffering for some time from the effects of a severe fall from a ladder last Spring.

Mr. Brandow was a son of John H. Brandow and was born in this town Aug. 1, 1814, on his father's farm, said farm being within a mile and a half of the homestead of his great-grandfather, Godfrey Brandow, the first settler in the town of Greenville. He had five brothers and two sisters, but one, Miss Sarah Ann Brandow, of this village, surviving. Four of his brothers lived to be over 80 years of age. He was married January 11, 1848 to Moycah Hotaling, who died July 4th, 1898.

Mr. Brandow removed from Coxsackie to Windham in 1848 and resided there eighteen years when he went to Ulster County, returning to Coxsackie in 1873, since which time he has made this his home. He was a successful farmer and fruit grower and always took great interest in political and civil affairs on which he was well informed.

Mr. Brandow was an active member of the Reformed and Presbyterian churches since he was eighteen years of age and was an elder and deacon for many years. He had been a zealous prohibitionist for years previous to his decease and was one of the original members of the Republican party, having voted for John C. Fremont, the first candidate of that party for President of the Unites States.

Of a family of six children, three survive to mourn his loss: Miss Evelena Brandow and Mrs. H. T. Bedell of this village, and Rev. J. H. Brandow, pastor of the First Reformed Church of Schuylerville. The funeral rites will take place at his late residence at 10:30 o'clock next Monday morning, Rev. F. S. Barnum officiating. - Coxsackie Times
