Mass of Christian Burial was held for Dorothy A. Walla on Friday, August 31, 2001 at St. John's Catholic Church in Weston, Nebraska with Rev. Rand Langhorst officiating.
Dorothy A. Walla, widow of Dennis F., passed away Thursday, August 28, 2001 at the Haven House Nursing Home in Wahoo, Nebraska.
The accompanist at the Mass of Christian Burial was Mrs. Louise Polacek. St. John's Church Choir sang. The casket bearers wer George Wonka, Jeff Walla, Rich Hoestje, Ludvik Walla, William G. Semrad and Greg Wonka. Interment was in St. John Cemetery in Weston, Nebraska.
Dorothy A. Walla was born on January 4, 1933 in Lyons, Nebraka to John and Ina (Loomis) White. She attended elementary school at Lyons and graduated from Lyons High School in 1951.
She was married August 9, 1952 in Fremont, Nebraska to Dennis F. Walla. They have been living in the Weston area since marriage.
Before marriage she was employed at the Nebraska Ordinance Plant, in Mead, where she met her future husband. She was a former cook at Hakel's Truck Stop and Restaurant, Whiteway Cafe and Maxine's Cafe all located in Weston; 11th Street Cafe, Eagles Lodge, Hilltop County Club and Haven Haven House all located at Wahoo. She had worked part-time as a bookkeeper for the Weston Pulic Schools.
Dorothy was a member of the St. Johns Catholic Church in Weston and a former member of the Rosary Sodality. She was also a member of Weston Volunteer Fire Department Auxillary.
She was preceded in death by parents, John and Ina (Loomis) White; husband, Dennis F. Walla: sister Elaine Babinette and a niece.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald and Ilene Walla and Wayne and Lisa Walla in Weston; four grandchildren: a brother, Arnold White of Lincoln and one niece.
Memorials may be sent to St. John Elementary School of Weston or Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad.
Funeral arrangements were made by Svoboda Funeral Home in Wahoo, Nebraska.
