Wayne Impson II, age 45, died unexpectedly at his home in Los Angeles on Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2009. He was born in Baton Rouge on Aug. 9, 1964, and moved with his family to Watson, where he attended Live Oak Elementary and High School. After graduation, he went to LSU where he studied electrical engineering and computer science.

At the time of his death, he had been a senior software engineer with TelePacific Communications in Los Angeles for two years. He received the Employee of the Quarter Award in 2008 as well as several On the Spot awards for problem solving. Before moving to Los Angeles, he had worked with similar telecommunication firms in Reston, Va., St. Louis, Mo., and Greenville, S.C.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Joe and Clara Impson, who were of Denham Springs; his maternal grandparents, Victor and Gertrude Nabors, who were of Watson; and an uncle, Douglas Impson, who was of Denham Springs.

Survivors include his father and stepmother, John and Gwen Impson, of Waveland, Miss.; his mother, Noma Impson, of Bay St. Louis, Miss.; and sister, Denise Impson Smith, of Mobile, Ala., as well as two aunts, Frances West, of Denham Springs and Sandra Langrasse, of Pierre Part.

A memorial service is planned for Saturday, Jan. 30, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall of the University United Methodist Church in Baton Rouge. The Fellowship Hall is located on the LSU Campus at 3350 Dalrymple St.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to a local chapter of the SPCA.
