PARADISE PROGRESS REVIEW - AUGUST 1942 - Vol XVI, No 4
Last Rites Are Held For Accident Victim
Funeral services in the Pardise cemetery were held at 11 o'clock in August 21 for Ian K Asplundh, 17 year old youth who was killed in an automobile accident on the Oliver Road when the car which he was driving failed to make the turn as he was driving toward the Wagstaff Road. The accident occurred Tuesday night, August 18. Also in the car were the boy's stepfather, W.R. Gaylord, and a friend, Forbes Hicks, who had driven with Asplundh from Pittsburgh, Penn. The two passengers were painfully injured and were taken to Chico to the hospital.
Asplundh and Forbes were visiting with the former's mother and his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. A.H. Kirkland and were planning to return to the East in a few days.
The deceased is survived by his mother, Mrs. W.R. Gaylord, his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. A.H. Kirkland of Paradise, his father, E.T. Asplundh of Pittsburg, three sisters, Mrs Frances Watson of Tacomas, and Joan and Elsa of Pittsburg. (Sheri)
